Frequently Asked Questions

I have an older yellow FID card (pre-2021), can you make that into a card?

No. There have been some several reports of some FFL dealers not accepting copies of yellow cards. While we cannot find anything in the law that states copies are not allowed, to avoid any legal issues with all involved we will not make the yellow cards. The new white versions are accepted by ALL FFL dealers on plastic. This issue ONLY pertains to the older yellow FID cards (pre-2021). There are instructions on how to get your new white card below.

How do I get a new white FID card?

There are two ways to get your new card. The first is to apply for a replacement FID card on the FARS website.

The second option you may have already done. If you applied for a permit to purchase a pistol within the last year you already have a new FID card which can be found in the approval email from the state. If you have not applied within the last year or if it has been over a year (the printable card files are removed from the state system after a year), you can apply for another purchase permit and you will be issued another copy of your FID card (and you will be able to buy another pistol). All of that can be done right on the FARS website.

Can I just give you my information and you can make me a card?

Yes and No. Not for any kind of local, state or federal government issued ID card or permit of any kind.

We can make custom ID cards for businesses, concert venues, local sports teams, EMS, Fire Departments, etc. (EMS and Fire Departments will require written permission from a department head for verification)

Will I be able to use this card to make purchases / provide to law enforcement?

Yes, everything on this website can legally be printed on plastic and provided to law enforcement or FFLs as ID. If there is ANY gray area on legality of duplication, we will not print it, no exceptions. This is to protect both of us.

Social Security cards are legal to duplicate but are not generally accepted as a valid proof of ID.

The following IDs are NOT legally allowed to be duplicated:

  • Drivers License
  • Any PBA / FOP cards
  • Police ID (except RPO cards issued by the state)

I have an older card, or I can not access the files of my ID, can I send you a scanned copy / screenshot / photo of my card(s)?

Yes and No. New, white FID card versions can be either scanned, photographed or screenshotted. Older version yellow FID cards need to be scanned.  Please read this before scanning to get the best print results.

Please note: Older YELLOW FID cards printed on plastic may not be accepted by all FFL dealers. Some require the original paper ID.

My card is beat up, can you repair and print it?

The short answer is yes. If there are tears, scuffs, or marks on it that were not there when it was issued we can remove them. We can only restore them to the way they were initially issued to you. We can not add, remove, edit or change any information at all, including the photo, that was not there originally.

My card is beat up, can you look at it before I order to let me know how it will print?

Yes, of course! Feel free to send us a scan or photo of it to chad@njlibertycards.com and we will tell you if it’s worth it or not.

The tracking information is saying my order is in a different state, did you send it to the right address?

Yes, it is being shipped to whatever shipping address you entered at checkout. From time to time the post office may send items to different sorting facilities around the country (TX, CO, TN, FL, etc.). It will make it back to NJ eventually. Shipping can take anywhere from 2-15 days to arrive. 95% of orders arrive within 2-4 days. We have no control over the post office.

Tracking says it was delivered but it is not in my mailbox!

The post office often marks things as delivered when they are running behind. Most times the package will be delivered on the following day or the day after that.

Another instance is that the incorrect shipping address was entered upon checkout. Please check your order confirmation to make sure the correct address was entered. To eliminate human error on our end, we do not retype any addresses when printing shipping labels. They are generated directly from the address that was entered on checkout. If you see an error after your order is placed please let us know right away and we can correct it as long as it has not been mailed already.

How do you protect my ID cards and keep my information secure? What happens to them after printing is complete?

Cyber security is something we take very seriously therefore we have several protection redundancies in place.

The uploads are protected though shopify servers with end to end TLS encryption which is an updated and more secure version of the typical SSL encryption. This prevents any unauthorized access to the data in transit.

Once printing is completed, all files are digitally shredded using dedicated file destroying software with the US Department of Defense, DoD 5220.22-M (3 passes) algorithm and total verification.

Our computers themselves are behind a series of internal and external firewalls.

The printers themselves are not networked in any way, only locally connected.

We also have anti-spoofing email protections in place and several other security measures (intentionally vague).

Can you fix a spelling error, incorrect information, or change the picture on my ID?

No. We can not legally change anything, including the photo on any ID cards that are issued by the state or government. We can only print cards exactly the way they were issued to you. Any corrections or changes must go through the issuing agency. The cards we print must exactly match what the state has on file or your card will be void.

Will my information be sold to any 3rd parties?

NEVER. At no time will your information be collected and distributed to anyone, ever.

How do I apply for my NJ Firearms ID card or Permit to Carry?

Applying for your FID or PTC is a straightforward and easy process that can be done online. We encourage anyone that is interested in protecting themselves and their loved ones, as well as exercising their second amendment rights to apply!

The first step is to apply for a firearms ID card and permit(s) to purchase a handgun. Both of those applications can be completed on the NJ FARS website.

If you already have a Firearms ID card and would like to apply for a permit to carry in NJ you can visit this section of the NJ FARS website.
